Happy 8th Birthday Boy - Ben

Happy Birthday to the most beautiful Birthday Boy Benjamin. I can't believe that my baby is 8. Oh dear - stop the clock. Benny we love you so dearly. You are a gorgeous little boy. You have the most wicked sense of humour-your sense of fun is second to none. I hope that you have a great day!!!

OK so I am cooking the birthday boy a Chocolate Oreo Cake at the moment. I will post a photo when done. This is the start of the birthday season for us and the making of the cakes as well. Next it is Chris',Shell's and then Luke's.

So this week I have had the boys sick on and off. Ben with a stomach virus and Luke with a cold/flu. It has been a difficult week with trying to manage work and taking care of the kids and all of the other things that go with this. The other day Ben was home sick and I thought that Luke was going to take a day off with his sore throat but he is loving school that much that he woke me up and said "come on mum I want to go to school." His teacher is just gorgeous and he is lapping up all that she has to offer. She is easy going and she has the ability to make him feel good and clever. She encourages him to take risks and shows him that he is capable. She lets him know that it is OK to make mistake. I just adore HER. I am dreading the end of the year. He is really having a good year. So to Miss Mason - a very big thank you. Thank you for being great and taking care of my son and showing him that learning is enjoyable!!!!!

What else??? Well I just received some more goodies from Scrapbook Creations - another challenge for me. I love a good challenge. So I am off to put the creative juices into action. I have a little more time to complete this one.

You have got to love the Blog world - so many avenues to explore. I love the fact that you can jump on here and draw inspiration from others work. I found a new blog recently and it led me to so many other beautiful blogs. Thanks girls for sharing your work and your lives with other.

Well I hope that all is well with everyone. Please drop me a line to let me know what is happening in your world.

Great Truths

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats..
2) When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground..
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional..
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.
5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.
6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.

SUCCESS:

At age 4 success is . . . . Not piddling in your pants.
At age 12 success is . . . Having friends.
At age 17 success is . . Having a driver's license.
At age 35 success is . . . .having money.
At age 50 success is . . . Having money.
At age 70 success is . . . Having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is . . . Having friends.
At age 80 success is . . . Not piddling in your pants.

Got this as an email and thought that I would share with you.

My Weekend

Friday I went to see Ghost of Girlfriends Past and Present with a great friend. It was good to catch up with you Helene. We both enjoyed the movie. A few corny little parts along the way. Generally a good movie and Matthew is one of my fav male actors so that made it. Hmm on the down side I had a little altercation with the car on the way out of the parking lot and ended up with a dint in my baby. I had to ring Chris and tell him about the car- this was not particularly good as he hadn't been talking to me since last Sunday when I told him that we were flying home to Lismore instead of driving. He took it well I guess. It is the first black cross that I have against my driving record. Never mind - my sister told me to stop trying to be perfect and get on with it (thanks Shelly).

Soccer was washed out this weekend. It gave me my weekend back as Luke was also meant to pay on Sunday. I got a few extra things done which was good. I have a heap of birthdays coming up to get ready for.

Feeling a bit over everything at the moment. Hopefully I will get back on top of things soon. I probably haven't enjoyed the weekend as much as I should have. I don't feel like doing the things that normally make me happy. Even ice cream doesn't work at the moment.

Hope that the rest of you are well and happy.

Karen's Hens Night

We had a great night celebrating in the city on Saturday night. I had a few funny moments and I was glad in the end that the girls took me home early. You see I have a naughty problem and that married with a few cocktails - things can become out of hand. You see I stop at nothing when there is fun to be had. It was good to get out for a few drinks.

Hope that you all had a good weekend too.

Just Keeping My Head Above Water

Man Oh Man I seem to be just keeping my head above water. Times have been busy and this Superwoman Act is getting a little tired. I feel like I don't have one spare minute in the day to anything that I want to-just enough time to do what I need to.

This week it has been the NAPLAN testing at school and making sure that kids are prepared for it. Luke also sat the test and did his stress head thing and stayed up all one night - so I got little sleep on Monday night. Luke made it through Tuesday and ended up sick for Wednesday.

Then at school I have collected everyone's Literacy Program to have a look at. I got most of them and have spent my day off today going over them. I have one more to look at tonight. I want them out of the way.

Then there is 4 nights of soccer training a week and trying to fit meals around this. Then there are the little jobs to do related to managing the team - the keeping the coach and some parents under control.

Then I have some work due for a design team meeting for MTL this week. I have a couple of things ready.

Some exciting news - I was contacted by Scrapbook Creations and asked to do some work for them. What a great opportunity but it too was due this week. I got it posted off. will let you know when and if being published closer to the date.

Then I am helping organise Dad's 70th party and I made the invitations for that. I think that they looked OK. Have to get onto making Shell's babyshower invitations.

Then there is my husband's paperwork to do and all of the household chores to keep under control.

I feel like the master juggler at the moment. I'm not sure how long I can keep all of these balls in the air. Will hang in there - could be worse.

Well I have a girls night out tomorrow night. So I am going to let my hair down in true Narelle style. Some of you will know what that means. Look out Narelle has been let out. Funny - the mother of the bride has been placed on Narelle watch - come on I'm not that naughty!!!Will post what memories I have of the night when I am well enough.

Our Mother's Day Adventure

Here are some photos from our Wombeyan Caves adventure.

Firstly let me say a very Happy Mother's Day to all of the beautiful mums out there. I believe that our job is the most special one of all. I hope that you had a fantastic day and that you were treated.

We had an extremely interesting Mother's Day. We didn't have any real plans as such. We hadn't booked into anywhere and we knew that everywhere would be busy. The boys made me some breakfast in bed which I enjoyed. Then the boys gave me their Mother's Day Stall gifts and their little handmade cards. The handmade stuff is really my favourite part. Then I got up and got the boys dressed and Chris suggested that we go to Berrima and have some lunch. I though it was a good idea so we packed up and off we went. We started to do some exploring and found ourselves on a trail to Wombeyan Caves and then we noticed that we would not have enough petrol to do a return trip and that we would have to turn around and head into Berrima. This is when Luke started to panic and stress. We had plenty of petrol to get there but it was the fact that we didn't know where the petrol station was that had him worried. He is such a worry wart. Where does it come from? I must admit that I found it all rather amusing as the night before we had watched Wolf Creek and I got totally freaked out and this little adventure was heading right down the Wolf Creek path. The signs looked the same, we were about to run out of petrol and then there was a park in the middle of no-where with a man standing there playing a flute. Hmmm interesting.

Anyway we got petrol and got something to eat and headed off on our journey. We decided to try the cave trip - little did we know the journey that we were about to undertake. So the trip started OK and then we hit a dirt road which was OK. Then we were on a side of a cliff and the road was progressively getting thinner. At this point Luke was crying and rather distressed. We probably would have turned around but that would have meant putting some tyres over the edge of the cliff. You had to sound your horn on blind corners as there was certainly no room to pass each other. We did meet a few cars and we had to sneak past each other- at which point Chris would ask "How close to the edge are we?" The trip was long and nerve racking and Luke was a mess when we finally arrived. We were running late for the last Guided Tour through the caves and then had to run up and down hills to catch up. We made it leaving me thinking how are we ever going to make it out of this place. When we entered the caves I told myself and the kids to enjoy them as this would probably be the first and the last time that we would do this trip. The caves were amazing. So pretty and interesting and I really enjoyed the tour.

When we got back to the car Luke started to stress again and cry. We asked some of the people we were on the tour with about the road out and they gave us another suggestion - thank God!!! We came home through Goulburn. So I would highly recommend the caves but I would suggest going through Goulburn. We didn't get home until about 8pm that night. It was probably the best Mother's Day I have had as I had no expectations of the day and what an adventure we had. It is a shame that Luke was so upset by the trip.

I loved this quote that I received from MTL Newsletter;
"Anyone who thinks the art of conversation is dead ought to tell a child to go to bed."
Robert Gallagher

The other one that made me laugh was;
"Always be nice to your children because they are the ones who will choose our rest home." Phyllis Diller

Soccer Saturday

Well Saturdays have become all about soccer. Ben had an early game and Kylee and the boys and Shell come along to watch. They boys won 6-0 which was really good. Ben scored 1. I told the boys that everytime they score they have to do the areoplane back to the centre and the funny thing is that they listened. Now when they score they all run with their arms out like they are going to take off.

Luke also won 3-0 - so that was another good result. They probably could have scored more as they were attacking all the time and they missed about 15 shots at goal. So I left at 8am and got home about 4pm after dropping everyone home.

See how we go this weekend.
Love to all from the die hard soccer mum

Funny

Someone sent me this as an email - How Not to Take a Breath Test - Hilarious!

Generally it as been a good week. Back to school and into the full swing of things. The first two days of Staff Development were good.

This week I feel like I have been consumed with soccer - with four nights training and a 2 games on Saturday- it hasn't left much time for anything else. Never mind the boys love it.

Today is D Day (Do it Day). I have so much to achieve and I have Luke home sick with an infection. I will let you know what I achieve - better start with getting off here and getting busy.

Hope that you are all having a good week.
